BIOGRAPHY

Gary Young is a Dorset-based abstract artist working primarily in acrylic. His work explores the interaction of bold colour combinations, texture, and structure, creating visually striking compositions that evoke rhythm, movement, and emotional resonance. Drawing inspiration from both natural landscapes and urban forms, his paintings often balance spontaneity with precision, using layers, grids, and geometric elements to frame expressive colour fields.

Gary’s artistic journey has evolved through experimentation and a commitment to intuitive mark-making. His recent works continue to push the boundaries of abstraction, inviting viewers to experience colour as both surface and depth.

He is currently preparing for his solo exhibition ‘54’, opening in October 2025, and will be exhibiting a new selection of work at The Gallery, Shaftesbury Arts Centre, from 2–8 July.
